Position Title: Staff Nurse, RN
Reports to: Nurse Manager
Schedule/Status: 20-24 hours a week
Objectives: Performs patient care services including medical, and limited ultrasound exams and client counseling (training provided for both)
Qualifications and Skills:
• Is dependable, stable, and capable of committing to the responsibilities and duties
• Committed Christian who demonstrates a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
• Expresses a desire to reach at-risk patients considering abortion.
• Expresses a desire to share the gospel.
• Believes in the sanctity of all human life from the moment of conception.
• Has a sincere, mature faith and can disciple others.
• Strong organization, administrative and time management skills.
• Strong interpersonal relationship skills in working with staff and volunteers.
• Experience in counseling or has the capacity to receive training in counseling.
• Ability to pass a criminal background check.
• Holds a current license in good standing with the State Nursing/Medical Board.
• Physically uninhibited from standing, has good eyesight or corrected vision, has steady hands, and has a good bedside manner.
• Skilled with current technology and able to learn new skills quickly.
• Has the capacity to obtain education, training, and documentation of competency to perform a limited obstetric ultrasound, which for nurses shall include didactic and clinical training per AWHONN guidelines. If not trained in limited OB ultrasound-completion of limited training will be provided.
Education and Experience Requirements:
• Registered Nurse with valid nursing license
• A minimum of two years in the medical field, preferred.
Responsibilities:
Spiritual conduct of clinic staff:
• Responsible for maintaining Biblical standards in the care of patients, educational materials used, and relationships with other staff and volunteers.
Patient Care:
• Provide medical, client counseling and ultrasound patient services
• Assist in answering the phone, setting up appointments, and greeting clients.
• Meet with patients and review medical services, patient instructions and related medical procedures
• Record patient information in client database system (training provided)
• Reviewing all patient records and verifying all forms have been properly completed
• Provide education related to pregnancy, abortion, STI and birth control
• Perform urine pregnancy test
• Share the gospel
Emergencies and Mandatory Reporting:
• Make calls to DHS when necessary and according to Policies and Procedures.
• Emergency phone calls -- Refer to a local hospital emergency room, or their physician, and/or advise to call 911.
• Medical emergency on-site -- Follow the policies and procedures on the form called Patient Medical Emergency Information
Personal Development and Continuing Education:
• Maintain professional license, CPR certification, or other certifications/licensure, training, and CEUs
• Increase knowledge of obstetrical, and gynecological care, and women's health issues.
• Attend medical conferences or webinars that offer professional training and information pertinent to the clinic's practices (must be approved by the Executive Director)
Other Responsibilities:
• Complete required classroom and in-office training
• Assist Nurse Manager with volunteer training and oversee Nurse volunteers
• Attend staff and volunteer meetings to better equip your service
• Assist with office responsibilities according to needs and personal capabilities
• Conflict Resolution and Grievances-refer to Employee Handbook
• Commit to our policy of confidentiality and guard against discussing clients away from the clinic • Pray before you start your day and ask someone outside the clinic to pray for you.
• Be Hope Clinic's messenger to the community
Employers Responsibilities:
• Annual review of Personnel Policies and Procedures provided by the Executive Director
• Receive an annual evaluation from the Nurse Manager regarding operational matters and job performance.
• Annual review of medical policies and procedures and infection control regulations provided by Nurse Manager
• Employers will reimburse any licensure, CEU’s and certifications applicable to employment (must be approved by the Executive Director)
