A Change of Heart - Choosing Hope for Her Baby

When “Megan” first walked through our doors, she was overwhelmed by fear.
She came to our pregnancy center with her boyfriend, “Cameron,” after discovering she was pregnant. Although she had already received a positive pregnancy test at the emergency room, she was still hoping the result might somehow be wrong.
Together, Megan and Cameron had already begun discussing abortion. They knew the decision would be painful, but at that moment, they believed it was their only option. When her pregnancy test at our center was also positive, the reality of her situation began to sink in.
Megan spent much of the morning crying. She felt completely unprepared for motherhood and believed that having a baby would derail the plans she had worked so hard to make for her future. She dreamed of attending cosmetology school, building a career, and creating a life for herself. She worried about finances, her mental health struggles, and whether her family would support her.
Most of all, Megan was afraid she would have to raise her child alone.
Cameron was even more adamant. He was already a father of one. He repeatedly expressed that he could not have another child. He talked about his existing responsibilities and insisted that he was not financially or mentally prepared to provide for another baby.
Cameron was direct with Megan about his position. He told her that he could not do this and made it clear that he wanted her to have an abortion. His frustration and fear came across strongly as he spoke about the financial burden he believed another child would create.
The care coordinator listened.
She didn't shame Megan. She didn't pressure her. She met her in the middle of her fear and reminded her that she was not alone.
Megan was encouraged to wait before making a final decision and to return for an ultrasound to learn more about her pregnancy. She agreed.
And then something happened that reminded us why we never give up hope.
A few days later, Megan reached out to our center with an unexpected message.
She had changed her mind.
She had spent time thinking about everything she had been feeling and everything she had discussed with the care coordinator. She knew she was scared. She knew life would not suddenly become easy. She knew there were still financial questions, relationship questions, and uncertainties about the future.
But she also knew one thing:
She could not end her baby's life.
Megan told us she had decided to keep her baby. She also recognized that her baby's father would have to make his own decision about how involved he wanted to be. But she was no longer willing to make an irreversible decision based on fear or someone else's uncertainty.
Her message to our center was simple and powerful:
“I changed my mind, and I’m keeping my baby.”
The care coordinator had been praying for Megan since the day she walked through our doors. She reminded Megan that she didn't have to have every answer today. She could take the next step, and then the next one.
Megan's story is a beautiful reminder that a woman facing an unexpected pregnancy often doesn't need someone to decide for her. She needs someone willing to walk beside her long enough for fear to quiet down and hope to have a voice.
Because of supporters like you, Megan had a safe place to ask questions, receive compassionate care, and consider a different future for herself and her baby.
Today, Megan is choosing motherhood.
Her circumstances haven't magically changed. She still has challenges ahead. But she also has something she didn't have when she first walked through our doors: hope.
And her baby has a mother who chose life.
Thank you for making stories like Megan's possible. Your support helps ensure that when a woman walks into our center frightened, overwhelmed, and considering abortion, she doesn't have to face that moment alone.
Together, we can offer compassionate care, practical support, and the hope of Jesus to women and families facing unexpected pregnancies—one heartbeat at a time.
