Michelle Whitacre is a native of Hattiesburg, MS, where she grew up. Michelle’s love of dance took her to Oklahoma on a scholarship after high school to study dance; however, physical injury resulted in a significant life change and an unforeseen career. She knows God’s guiding hand led her on a path of healing as she continued to learn how to help others. She has enjoyed a 20-year career in nursing with a B.S.N from Northwestern Oklahoma State University. She later earned an M.A. in Dance Therapy from Drexel University, taking on the dual role of nurse and creative counselor in various settings. She first volunteered her organizational skills at Hope Clinic in 2020 during her D.N.P. program at U.S.M., where she studied advanced practice psychiatric nursing and graduated in 2022. Michelle approaches clients with empathy and genuine care, desiring to touch hearts with Christ’s love. She advocates for life, having received training from Sidewalk Advocates for Life and participating in 40 Days for Life.
Michelle is an active member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Hattiesburg, MS. She appreciates being part of the Hope Clinic team as a nurse, offering medical information and applying her nurturing nature to give much-needed emotional and spiritual encouragement. She shares God’s love in reminding women facing unplanned pregnancies that they are not alone.
She loves to play with her niece and nephew, take walks with her dog, read, and create art. She brings her counseling, health education, and therapeutic communication skills to Hope Clinic to offer support to women struggling with unplanned pregnancies.
